Ruolin Xu Luyo
About
Ruolin is a Los Angeles-based editor and director who specializes in visual storytelling across various genres, including documentary, narrative, and experimental works.
During her studies at CalArts Film&Video MFA program, Ruolin directed several narrative shorts that were inspired by everyday life and infused with dreamy, humorous elements. Her thesis film, String of Butterflies, is a dark humor fantasy that is streaming on multiple platforms.
Since 2016, Ruolin worked as assistant editor on numerous award-winning documentaries, including Walk Run Cha-Cha (Oscar-nominated), Hidden Letters (Oscar-shortlisted), Our Time Machine, etc.
Most recently, Ruolin has directed and edited a series of compelling documentaries for EST Media, which focus on the lives of Asian and Asian diaspora characters. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling, Ruolin is dedicated to creating meaningful and impactful works that resonate with audiences.
